Your gift is greatly appreciated supporting the XBOT ROBOTICS summer & Saturday workshops and competition robotics teams. You can make your gift several ways:

In 2000, XBOT Robotics started offering students at Franklin High School Seattle, WA, an exciting opportunity: to participate in FIRST Robotics Competition team. Since then, XBOT Robotics has grown to a year-round program, offering after-school, Saturday, and summer workshops in addition to robotics teams at the FLL, FTC, and FRC levels (elementary school through high school).

Students are recruited from Franklin High School and the surrounding area. Franklin HS is a very diverse school. In the 2017-18 school year,
• Its student body was 95% students of color
• 72% of students received free or /reduced-fee lunch students
• 54% of students came from English Language Learner homes.

We approach each of our programs with an equity-focused mindset. We provide transportation for students from Franklin High School to the space where we build and practice with our FRC robots. We provide a hot, healthy meal during each practice so that no student has to forego participating on our team because they cannot afford to miss being at home for dinner. When our team earns the right to compete at the District and WorldWide levels, which require long-distance travel and overnight hotel stays, we provide travel scholarships to students in free or reduced lunch programs so that travel costs to not prohibit them from competing with the team.

These students deserve the same opportunities for successful pathways to STEM careers that are readily available to students in other Seattle-area communities.  XBOT Robotics offers technology-rich, hands-on, project-based STEM activities. For the FIRST competitions, students spend 12 or more hours a week during competition season designing, building, and programming competition robots, with guidance from professional engineers. Through all the XBOT Robotics offerings, students develop self-confidence, STEM and problem-solving skills, and interest in pursuing STEM careers.
